 Langnese Honey was established in the summer of 1925 in Hamburg by a young importer, Karl Rolf Seyferth. After initial setbacks, demand increased and the business began to flourish.
Seyferth agreed to join with Viktor Emil Heinrich (V.E.H.) Langnese, in business since 1888, over a meal of caviar and lobster. The old Mr. Langnese made clear that he would invest his name only into good hands of a quality company. The mark 'Langnese Honey' was born.
In 1948, when everything lay still in rubble, Mr. Seyferth recognized a new opportunity and installed provisionally in the cellar of a Hamburg company. A new Langnese Honey, with continuously high quality and taste would be created. These requirements were not easy to fulfill with a natural product such as honey. Langnese acquired its own beekeepings in Guatemala, Salvador and Mexico and developed comprehensive quality controls. Langnese spent months taste testing in grocer's shops with owners and customers. Thus, the optimal Langnese formulation finally developed with much diligence, ability and fine effort.
The investments had been worthwhile and, by 1958 Langnese Honey was a market leader with 6.500 tons and a conversion of 20 millions DM. By 1985 the first beekeeper specialities were introduced: five sorts offered variety for the fastidious Geniesser. Children particularly love the natural honey in the innovative and practical honey jars. In order to be able to master the increasing demand a new, modern factory was finished.
Today Langnese Honey is one of Germany's most well-known and most popular bee honeys, and the mark has lost none of its appeal. One only rarely experiences this harmonious consonance of product and mark as embodied by Langnese Honey.
