All of John Wm. Macy's CheeseSticks' products feature high quality, all natural ingredients. Fresh dough is mixed daily from sourdough 'starters' prepared the day before. Rich layers of grated cheeses and distinctive seasonings are sandwiched between thin layers of sourdough, cut in strips, twisted, and baked twice to crunchy perfection.
John Macy started making CheeseSticks in his loft apartment in New York City in 1984. He had developed the tasty snack some years earlier as a treat to serve at events his company catered. An overwhelming response to the product on the part of specialty food shops in the City (such as Balducci's) helped the fledgling company to quickly outgrow the apartment, and John soon found himself renting space, buying equipment, and devoting his full time to CheeseSticks.
Rapid expansion into hotels and restaurants throughout the area followed by nine competitive awards over nine years from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade has provided opportunity for national exposure and additional demand for these wonderful treats.
Over the years, John Wm. Macy has expanded the product line as well, from the original Cheddar Cheese CheeseSticks (actually a blend of Cheddar and Asiago cheeses with cayenne butter) to include four additional flavors: Romano Garlic, Savory Swiss, Cheddar & Scallions, and Sun Dried Tomaoto. There are also two dessert varieties: Sweet Chocolate and Sweet Cinnamon.
