It all began at the German food show in 1979, when Modesto Giberti, a chemist, decided to show a product that he had originally made for his family's consumption. We were fortunate enough to meet him there and were greatly impressed by his enthusiasm. His amazing detailed knowledge of food production and, more to the point, the product he was showing - Garlic Puree in a tube.
Here was Garlic Puree made directly from fresh garlic and concentrated so that each 90grm tube contained the equivalent of a kilo of fresh garlic; so convenient that there was no more crushing and no more smell on your fingers, and it was always ready for immediate use.
In 1980 Mr. Giberti became the first man in the world to discover a method for processing garlic paste. He founded Gia as a small family business in the fertile agricultural area of Emilia Romagna shortly thereafter and began manufacturing garlic paste in tubes. The company gradually extended its range of pastes with the aim of providing consumers with quality convenient products.
Gia pastes are made from carefully selected fresh ingredients, many of which are grown locally in Emilia Romagna.
These authentic recipes are time consuming to make at home in the traditional way and Gia pastes provide all the quality and flavour of home- made and none of the work.
